Rhizome recently posted a ton of great public access TV clips, including gems from the well-known TV Party, which was hosted by Glenn O’Brien and starred Basquiat, Debbie Harry, and Fab Five Freddy among others. This clip is from Atlanta’s the American Music Show (my new favorite, sorry Stairway to Stardom). The cast was mostly made up of drag queens, and their innovative programming included Twin Peaks parodies. Other shows include The Live Show!, Everything in Heaven Is TV, and the Circular File Channel. If you’re into this sort of thing, check out performance party group Whoop Dee Doo!!! too.
